Requirements for Admission to Middle Tennessee State University
REGULAR ADMISSION
Regular Admission will be granted to applicants who complete 14 high school units of study as prescribed by the Tennessee Department of Education:
High School English - 4 units Social Studies – 1 unit (World, Ancient, Modern, or European History, or World Geography) Natural/Physical Sciences – 2 units (including one unit (with lab) of biology, chemistry, physics, or principles of technology) Visual and Performing Arts – 1 unit Algebra I or Math for Technology, and Algebra II – 2 units United States History – 1 unit Foreign Language (only 1) – 2 units
Those completing the proper units of study must meet the following requirements: A minimum of a 3.0 GPA An ACT composite score of 22 Or a combination of a 2.7 GPA and a minimum ACT of 19 (SAT scores of 1020 are considered an equivalent of a 22 ACT)
TRANSFER STUDENTS
Admission will be granted to transfer applicants with more than 24 semester hours and a 2.0 GPA. Applicants with 23 or fewer semester hours must meet both freshman and transfer standards.
